What a pleasant gift Spring is to all in God’s kingdom! A breath of fresh air, spring sunshine, spring showers, and new growth! Seeds are sown, flowers begin to bless us with their hint of color splashed across the earth and the freshness is in the air! As we drove to Fredericksburg this past weekend, the lush bluebonnets were like ribbons along side the road. The lavender has bloomed and grants us the restful scent only lavender can give. When we drove down there last month none of this was present. It was gray, not much grass even…All this reminded me of how just before new growth, there is a period of quietness in which it appears that nothing is going anywhere and then…suddenly a burst of newness comes forth! That seems to be where we are with the CLCW Board at this time. The Nominating Committee spent the month of February seeking your talent to serve as a leader in CLCW in the upcoming year. Regretfully, the responses were not sufficient to support an election to replace the open positions on the current board. After much consideration, we have concluded that the organization’s structure according to the current Constitution and Bylaws may need to be revisited and receive some adjustments. Watch for a survey, which is forthcoming, that will give you an opportunity to share your thoughts. We will take your responses into consideration and present our recommendations to the entire body of Christ Lutheran Church Women.
Lydia Circle is continuing to read and discuss Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Higgins. Our next meeting is Monday, May 25 at 7 p.m. in room 220 at the church. Ladona Webb will lead our discussion. All women of the church are welcome to join us, even if you haven’t read the chapter. We always have a lively discussion and we’re a friendly group! Deborah Circle will meet on Tuesday, May 12 at the home of Diana Lackey (6307 Joyce Way, Dallas). Coffee will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by the business meeting at 10 and the Bible study from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Denise Bradshaw will lead the Bible study of Luke 24 titled Do You Recognize Him: Jesus Today. Willie Mae Harrison will send Mother’s Day cards to the homebound members of Christ Lutheran Church, and Circle members may contribute to the Lifeline Fund in the month of May. For directions to Diana Lackey’s home or for a copy of the Bible Study, please contact Betsy Lintel at 972-381-8336 or (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). We welcome all women of the church to join us, and we extend a special call to all new members to visit us! Hannah Circle continues our study and discussion of The Gospel of Ruth: Loving God Enough to Break the Rules by Carolyn Custis James. We would love to have you join us at our next meeting. Our schedule for the next two months is as follows:
Hannah Circle meets the second Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. in room 218 at the church. We come together as mothers, as daughters and as friends to study the Word and to share fellowship and outreach opportunities. Our special project is putting together layette kits for Lutheran World Relief, and this year we produced seven kits. If you would like to attend and need child care, please contact Amy Mitts at 214-361-8361 or (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). For more information, contact Carlene Strobel at 214-528-1222 or (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Dorcas Circle will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11 in room 218 at the church. Alice Wood will conclude our Bible study on the Book of Esther. We have enjoyed studying this little-known book, and we invite you to join us as we learn how it ends.
