Message from the CDC Director

Did you know…?

Nearly 1,800 ELCA congregations support schools and early childhood centers.

Nearly 2,000 ELCA schools and early childhood centers are in existence.

Nearly 20,000 teachers serve in ELCA schools.

Nearly 250,000 students are served by ELCA schools.

The first week of March is National Lutheran Schools Week when we celebrate the role faith plays in our schools and how it is often handed down from generation to generation. As we are committed to excellence in quality Christian education, we work in partnership with parents to foster Christ-like qualities in all we pursue: spiritual development, academic growth, physical, emotional, aesthetic, and social development.

In 2003, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a resolution supporting the goals of Lutheran Schools Week, and congratulating “Lutheran schools, students, parents, teachers, administrators and congregations across the nation for their ongoing contributions to education.” Five years later, Lutheran schools continue to provide safe, caring, and nurturing communities where children grow and thrive. Our parents will confirm that our school is much more than a place where children can stay while their parents work. As a ministry of Christ Lutheran Church, the Child Development Center serves our greater community by providing an environment where children can develop relationships with adults and children who are different than them, grow in their self-esteem, and develop the skills of lifelong learning. On this occasion, we celebrate with you, our church, for supporting our work with children and families, bringing little ones Christ’s embrace.

Blessings,

Cori Berg
