Lutheran World Relief

Lutheran World Relief has several different ways for you to help people overseas.

One of these is to buy items for their Sewing Kits.  These kits are used in vocational training programs to teach young men and women sewing skills that they can use to earn an income.  The items needed in these kits are three yards of 44” cotton or four yards of 36”, one package of needles for hand sewing, one spool of matching thread, one card for six or more buttons.

Wrap sewing items inside of the fabric and tie with string, yarn or strip of fabric.  They would like the material to be a dark print if you can.  They also will take just the yardage as it gives these people fabric for extra sewing practice.  Most fabric stores have last year’s yardage for sale in the back, so just make sure it’s cotton or cotton blend.  Let Sharon know if you see any cotton fabric on sale, and she will pass the word along.  If anyone has any questions please contact Sharon Van Dorn at 214-750-0714.
