Our Christian sympathy is extended to Francis Hoffman at the death of her husband Dock.

Congratulations to Elsie Dott whose granddaughter was baptized on August 31.

Welcome Ladona Webb, our seminary intern for 2008-2009! Please, please wear your nametags on Sunday morning, not only for Ladona’s sake, but for members and visitors alike!

The church office will be closed, Monday, September 1, for Labor Day. In case of emergency, please call Pastor Bill at 972/701-8060.

Two festival days in September! During the month of September this year, both September 14 and September 21 fall on a Sunday. In the church calendar, September 14 is appointed as Holy Cross Day, one of the oldest days in the church calendar, commemorating the cross of Christ. September 21 give us the opportunity to remember with thanksgiving, St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist. Be sure to come worship with us!

Wednesday Evening Suppers! Please join us for a delicious supper every Wednesday evening in Fellowship Hall, as we "gap the bridge" from Sunday to Sunday. Beginning September 24th we will serve supper from 5:30p.m. to 6:50p.m. Meals will be provided by Festive Kitchen. The cost will initially be covered by free will offerings. A sign up sheet will be available on Sunday. You may also email or call the church office by Monday at noon to reserve your meal for the following Wednesday.

I would like to thank the congregation for all the prayers, cards and calls during my recent surgery. All your thoughts and prayers were greatly appreciated. I also want to thank Pastor Bill for being at the hospital so early and on his day off; it meant a great deal to us.

Many thanks to all of you for the many prayers, telephone cards, and get well cards you sent me while I was recovering from knee surgery. Thanks go to the Deborah Circle for the many “meals on wheels” they brought me. They are great cooks! Many thanks go to Kathy Redpath for the many visits to the hospital as well as to the Reliant Rehab Hospital. All your thoughts and prayers are much appreciated.
—Yours in Christ, Willie Mae Harrison

Thank you all of my Christ Lutheran friends who were there for me at the time of my recent surgery. Thanks to those who were with me when I first came home from the hospital, and to those who brought the delicious foods, sent many cards and notes, and made phone calls and visits. To Pastor Bill, who is always near when needed, and to Intern Kathy for her many visits, my special thanks. I am truly blessed to have such dear, caring friends. Thank you to you all, Virginia Thompson
