CLCW News - December 2008

As the leaves turn rust and bright orange, I am reminded of how the seasons of the year reflect the seasons of life! For everything there is a reason and for everything there is a season…Whether your season is like fall and your service is entering a resting period where you will give a little and find ways to nurture yourself so as to emerge later or whether your season is like the bright faces of my pansies ready to smile and give it all you have through the winter and early spring, there is a place for you at CLCW. We hope you will find a place in Christ’s congregation to use your  season in life to reach out and change lives.

Thank You to all who participated in the ThankOffering service and brunch! You donated a generous $678.00, which CLCW donated to WELCA . Thanks also to everyone who contributed to Pennies for Women and Children in Crisis. We donated $577.30 to WELCA for our annual contribution! Be sure to mark your calendars for and plan to attend the upcoming CLCW scheduled events:

CLCW Christmas Party – Tuesday, December 9, at the home of Nici Bremer. We ask that everyone bring canned goods for the food pantry. The offering from the party will benefit the Human Rights Initiative.

Congregational Christmas Card – Available in the narthex through Sunday, December 14, 2008. Proceeds benefit Lutheran Social Services of the South.

Lenten Retreat - Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28, 2009. Focusing on the stations of the cross, this retreat promises to be a special Lenten experience.  Carpooling will be available, and the cost is $20.00.

Lutheran World Relief Packing Day – Saturday, March 28, 2009

Spring Bible Study - As your Board reflected on the feedback from the events of the past year and began casting our vision for 2009, we concluded that a quarterly women’s study/event was a meaningful experience for all women of the church.  Therefore, we invite you to look forward to the return of the “old” summer Bible Study in the form of a “new” Spring Bible Study during the month of May.
