Sunday SchoolSunday School classes are offered for all ages, children as young as age 3 through adults. All classes meet between our two Sunday morning worship services (9:45-10:45 am.) Adult Classes are taught by our Senior Pastor (Rev. Bill Waxenberg), our seminary intern, or a knowledgeable lay professional. Past topics have included Lutheran theology and Luther’s writings, non-violence, our worship liturgy, and the miracles of Jesus. This class meets in the church lounge. Children’s Classes begin in the fellowship hall for a time of music together. Children then proceed to their classrooms with their teachers to learn about the scripture lessons for the day or the liturgical season. We currently use Life Together materials from Augsburg fortress for these classes. Intergenerational Events We believe that there are valuable lessons to be learned from each other as we explore God’s word an build relationships with each other, and that these valuable lessons and relationships are not necessarily dependent on one’s age. For this reason, we have embarked upon a series of intergenerational events as a part of our Sunday School program. People of all ages gather for an event during the education hour one Sunday at the beginning of each liturgical season. Music, Bible Study, and hands-on activities are a part of this learning experience together as we explore the seasons of the church year together. Summer Months We acknowledge that summer is a time when people travel more often and are more likely to miss a week or two of Sunday School. During the summer we will still have classes, but we will learn in a more informal setting. All ages will meet together for summer lessons taught by various volunteers. The materials and lessons are still from Life Together and follow the lectionary readings for the day, these lessons are designed to make it easy for people to “drop-in” for whichever weeks they are able and not feel as if they have missed anything. |
