Confirmation Classes

Confirmation classes are a place where the young people of our congregation learn more about what it means to be a Lutheran as they explore what they believe.  Through study, discussion, hands on activities, projects, and retreats, youth are challenged to think about what their personal faith means to them and how they can live their lives in a faithful manner.

Through this two year course, students will:

  • Learn the Books of the Bible and study some general Bible knowledge, emphasizing important themes in the scriptures.

  • Study Luther’s Small Catechism (Includes the Lord’s Prayer, The Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, Holy Communion, and Holy Baptism.)

  • Learn some basic history and theology of the Lutheran Church.

  • Explore their own personal gifts for ministry in preparation for becoming active adult members of the congregation.

About the Classes

Confirmation classes are held for students in grades 6 and 7.

Through the confirmation process, young people will work with the Senior Pastor, the Seminary Intern, and others.  Students also work with mentors--caring individuals from the congregation that are currently living out their faith--in small group settings.

Parents are asked to play an active role with their children by assisting with assignments, participating in worship services with their family, discussing the topics covered in confirmation at home in a family devotional setting, and by setting an example for the youth.

Confirmation is supported by the Youth at Christ programs of the church through fellowship and service activities, retreats, Bible Studies and Synod-wide events.

When They Meet:

Classes are held at 5:30 Wednesday evenings (before evening prayer services.) For more information about this program contact .
