Most of us are familiar with our church’s mission statement: A community of faith, reaching out to change lives.  The Women of the ELCA also have a mission: To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.

As we seek to live out these missions in our congregation and in the work of the CLCW Board, we thought it would be helpful to have a mission or guiding principle of our own.

The CLCW Board prayerfully considered a variety of scripture passages before choosing as our theme Luke 1: 45-47, where we read these words:

(Elizabeth said), “Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.’ And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”

As the CLCW Board seeks to fulfill God’s mission for us in the upcoming year, we will draw strength and encouragement from Elizabeth and Mary’s faith.  We hope that the theme we have chosen will enrich our work and guide all the women of Christ Lutheran Church this year.
