Most of us are familiar with our church’s mission statement: A community of faith, reaching out to change lives. The Women of the ELCA also have a mission: To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.
The M&M’s (Mary Magdalene) members meet once a month on a rotating schedule of social activities, book readings/study and stewardship projects. Usually the summer is taken off and activities resume in the month of September. Members volunteer to host the monthly meetings and a yearly calendar of events is decided in December or January. Watch Christ Notes for details with regards to meeting time, place and activity planned for the month.
The Deborah Circle is named in honor of the prophetess, Deborah, who was a strong woman and a judge, willing to be led by God. We became aware of God’s ability to accomplish great things through Deborah because of her willingness to be led by Him. Like Deborah, we try to focus on what we CAN do, rather than worrying about what we CAN’T do for the Lord.
The Dorcas Circle takes its name from the beloved woman in Acts 12. According to Acts, Dorcas “was devoted to good works and acts of charity.”
Moms in Christ is a monthly playdate and support group for moms and children (infant to three years of age). Our gatherings are very casual come late, come early, don’t worry about makeup! We share ideas & tips on motherhood, and the children have an opportunity to get to know each other and have fun in the nursery together.
The Lydia Circle is named after Lydia, who was an influential businesswoman, a dealer in purple cloth, and who opened the way for ministry in the Macedonia region, as described in Acts 16:13-15. She was Paul’s first Christian convert in Europe and noted for her hospitality to Christian missionaries.
