CLCW news

What a pleasant gift Spring is to all in God’s kingdom! A breath of fresh air, spring sunshine, spring showers, and new growth! Seeds are sown, flowers begin to bless us with their hint of color splashed across the earth and the freshness is in the air! As we drove to Fredericksburg this past weekend, the lush bluebonnets were like ribbons along side the road. The lavender has bloomed and grants us the restful scent only lavender can give. When we drove down there last month none of this was present. It was gray, not much grass even…All this reminded me of how just before new growth, there is a period of quietness in which it appears that nothing is going anywhere and then…suddenly a burst of newness comes forth! That seems to be where we are with the CLCW Board at this time.

As the leaves turn rust and bright orange, I am reminded of how the seasons of the year reflect the seasons of life! For everything there is a reason and for everything there is a season…Whether your season is like fall and your service is entering a resting period where you will give a little and find ways to nurture yourself so as to emerge later or whether your season is like the bright faces of my pansies ready to smile and give it all you have through the winter and early spring, there is a place for you at CLCW. We hope you will find a place in Christ’s congregation to use your  season in life to reach out and change lives.

Christ Lutheran Church Women (CLCW) President Jacquie McConnell writes: Autumn is upon us, and this year is a very special autumn as we exercise our right to vote. Recently, I ran across this quote from General Colin Powell: You have been given citizenship in a country like none other on earth, with opportunities available to you like nowhere else on earth. What will be asked of you is hard work; nothing will be handed to you. Use your education and success in life to help those still trapped in cycles of poverty and violence. Above all, never lose faith in America.  ts faults are yours to fix, not curse.”

We hope you will find a place in Christ’s congregation to use your education and success to reach out to those trapped in cycles of poverty and violence. As we move through the church year, let us be ever mindful of how we can make a difference in the lives of others and be an example of God’s love.

Lydia Circle would like to thank everyone who made contributions to our birthday party for MOSAIC residents. We had a ton of fun. The MOSAIC residents loved the games, the craft, taking pictures, and of course the goodies they got to take home. It would not have been possible without the generous contributions of this congregation.

I’m not exactly sure where this summer went but one thing I know for certain is that fall is just around the corner! Can you believe it?! The children are back to school and routines are beginning to set in. Along with that is the church calendar “gearing up!” Circles are jumping into fall with new studies.

Come visit the Christ Lutheran Church Women (CLCW) table at Rally Day (Sept. 14 between services) to learn more about the many circle and fellowship opportunities. We also invite ALL WOMEN to the Fall Bible Study on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the church. Lunch will be provided as well as childcare. There will be a study of Psalms 22 and 23 in addition to fellowship and learning more about the activities of the women of Christ Lutheran Church.
