SHAKING THE FOUNDATIONS
Matthew 28:1-10
Easter Sunday
March 23, 2008
The first shock wave rolled through the city of San Francisco at 5:12 in the morning. The after shocks began less than two minutes later. In the space of less than 120 seconds, the most devastating earthquake ever known to have hit the United States was over. The subsequent fires were just beginning. And on April 18, 1906, 490 city blocks were destroyed, 25,000 buildings crumbled, 250,000 were left homeless, and it’s estimated that as many as 2500 people lost their lives. One eyewitness reported seeing buildings, giant skyscrapers, being moved off their bases out onto the sidewalks before they crumbled. It was a shaking of the foundations of an incredible magnitude.
This year’s discipleship camp was amazing!
We had six Jr. Highers, six Sr. Highers and two college kids. Fourteen youth is the most we have ever had at Discipleship camp. We stayed at a new camp, camp Lone Star in La Grange. It was beautiful and the food was great, those are the two most important things you can have in a camp.
After almost six months of waiting, I have finally had the pleasure of attending my first weaving lesson at the White Rock Weaving Center here in Dallas! I am so excited to be able to add yet another fiber-related skill to my list of activities. The loom pictured here is a relatively small but still versatile and portable one. It is the type I will be learning to weave on in the coming months, and the type that may well go back to Columbus with me if I fail in my feeble and unenthusiastic efforts to resist the covetous desire to possess a loom of my own.
During this month, when our schools will be celebrating Lutheran Schools Week, please accept the gratitude of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for your creative, faithful, joyful ministry of education.

I believe that the Lenten season is one of the most wonderful and thought-filled times on the Christian calendar. It is a time for us to STOP and reflect on our lives. What is important? What isn’t? It is a time to reflect and study on the sacrifice that our Lord made for us, the children He so loves, that He gave up His life.
Mark your calendars for the following CLCW events taking place in March!
