This September, we have exciting new classes for learning about ourselves, our faith, our music, and our creativity! Whether you’re starting something new or digging deeper into a longtime interest, these groups will be a great way to learn, grow, and make new connections in this community. Space may be limited, so don’t wait to sign up! Classes begin September 13 and run through October 18.
Art: Spark your Creativity!
God created all of us to be creators. So try your hand at making different kinds of art: drawing, watercolor painting, collage and more. A different art form every week! No experience is required and supplies are provided. Sundays at 11 a.m. Leaders: Barbara Bierman and Bonnie Tollefson. Limit: 8
The Divine Origin of Our Favorite Sacred and Secular Musical Masterpieces
Join us for a music appreciation class that focuses on great music, both sacred and secular. We will try to answer some important questions about the origins of different musical masterpieces. Sundays at 11 a.m. Leader: Dr. Hando Nahkur. Limit: 12
Renewal and Rest through the Practice of Yoga
Experience the unity of breath and movement through the Yin and Restorative styles of yoga. People of all levels of flexibility and yoga experience are very welcome to this gentle practice. Please bring two yoga blocks, a yoga mat, and a blanket. If you do not have those supplies, please let Kerry know before class begins. A few extras are available. Sundays at 11 a.m. Leader: Kerry Dueholm. Limit: 12
Acts: Journey with the Apostles
Take some time for Bible study as we explore this strange, influential, and often very exciting book of the New Testament together. Read and ponder some of the passages we don’t get to hear on Sundays and get a glimpse of the church in its early days: spreading out, making room for new people, preaching, healing, and enduring through trials. Sundays at 11 a.m. Leaders: Isaac Yau and Deacon Stephanie Varnum. Limit: 10
Welcome to Christ
A discussion class for anyone interested in Baptism, church membership, or just learning more about the faith we share. This is a great way to ask questions, share experiences and wisdom, and grow in the faith and life of the church. Sundays at 11 a.m. Leaders: Pastor Ben Dueholm and Bjorn Blomquist. Limit: None.
An Invitation to Experience Spiritual Direction
Have you ever longed for an hour simply to slow down, notice God's Presence, and talk with someone who will listen without judgment or agenda?
Emily Watson, a trained spiritual director, is offering complimentary one-hour spiritual direction sessions for members and friends of our congregation as an introduction to this ancient Christian practice.
Spiritual direction is not counseling or Bible study. Rather, it is a sacred conversation that creates space to notice where God is already at work in your life—through your joys, questions, struggles, relationships, prayer, and everyday experiences. Many people find that spiritual direction helps them deepen their relationship with God, discern next steps, navigate seasons of change, or simply become more attentive to the movement of the Holy Spirit.
Sessions will be available on Tuesdays, September 22 and 29, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. (location to be announced). Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
To schedule a session, email [email protected].
If these dates or times are not convenient, Emily can connect individuals with another trained spiritual director through Retreat House Spirituality Center, a local ecumenical ministry founded by Presbyterian pastors.
These sessions are offered at no cost as a gift to the congregation and as an opportunity to experience the grace, healing, and deeper awareness of God's presence that spiritual direction can foster. Additional opportunities may be offered in the spring.
