On Sunday, April 10, we will once again lift up and celebrate our Preschool and its teachers/staff at 11:00 worship. Afterward, from Noon to 2:30 PM, we will have our annual Spring Fling on the church lawn. In addition to our preschool families, we’re also inviting Mosaic residents, LSSS families, visitors and friends of CLC to join us for the festivities. Enjoy a hot dog lunch, games, face painting, music, a petting zoo, crafts, and more! Church members are asked to bring a dessert to share.
The Haschkes took $100 and purchased $260 worth of groceries and delivered them to the White Rock Center of Hope. The center is always in need of donations and every little bit helps. The Haschkes saw need and decided to help. How will you make a difference?
In April 2015 Nepal was struck with a massive earthquake and aftershocks lasting three weeks. For many people their lives and livelihoods would be changed forever. S. Van Dorn decided to use her $50 towards Lutheran World Relief and a program that taught people like Maya how to work the land and grow fruit trees to feed herself and trade with neighbors. It is an investment that will benefit the Maya and her community for years. How will you make a difference? A. Woodruff realized that her $50 donation to the Rotary Club of San Miguel yearly fundraiser could help raise even more funds. Her $50 became 800 pesos and managed to bring in that much more and help the community that much more. How will you make a difference?
Small things matter, for one woman at City House in Plano that small thing was a tire. Her’s had been damaged a few months back and she had been driving around on her spare. When the Orsaks learned about this, they purchased her a new tire and now that woman can safely drive to her job and have one less thing to worry about. It may seem like a small thing, but the Orsaks saw someone in need and helped. How will you make a difference?
L. Colden recently made a $50 donation to Visiting Nurses, an organization that supports, promotes and advances nonprofit providers of community-based healthcare. Colden was reminded of her work with Meals on Wheels and how a visit from a stranger brought not only nutrition, but company. On a few occasions, Colden brought her grandchildren along on her route, which added a welcoming spark of happiness to the resident’s day. Colden's efforts made a big difference in people's lives. How will you make a difference?
When you run out of shampoo it’s a real inconvenience, but for some just having shampoo is a luxury. The Behrens decided to spend $100 on some canned goods and basic hygiene items and handed them to the homeless people in downtown Dallas. The Behren’s felt a great joy handing out the items, but also realized that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to help the homeless. One small gesture can make a positive impact. The Behrens plan on reaching out and helping again. How will you make a difference? Thank you for your participation in the Dallas Ramp event this last Saturday on behalf of the Johanniter Help Group Texas and Christ Lutheran Church. Attached you can find 3 photos from our ramp building process and the fourth shows the Johanniter goodie bags for our teams. In total we were able to build 3 ramps in one morning! That is an all-time high and a key number for our group!
Particular thanks to Andreas and Daniel for coming up all the way from Houston to help with this important cause! Great to have you here! And a heartfelt thank you to everybody else, who came out this morning! I hope to see all of you soon again! May it be in Houston or here in sunny Dallas! A. Bremer National Lutheran Schools Week will be the week of March 6th. Teachers are planning special activities for the children each day of that week that have been suggested and provided from the ELEA at the national level. On Tuesday, March 8th, the suggested theme is “Learn Together”. We would like to invite any interested members of the congregation to visit our classrooms to read to the children at 11 AM. Please sign up on the narthex credenza, call the Preschool front desk at 214-363-2242, or email us at cdcstaff@clcdallas.org if you are interested in spending some time with our children. |
