Nursery Attendant

Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Pastor
Status: Part Time (3 hours per week, 9:00 am to noon Sundays, occasionally for other events as negotiated)
Direct Reports: None
Position Overview:
Be the one who shares Jesus with our littlest church goers. The Christ Lutheran nursery attendant cares for children from infant to 3 years old during both worship and adult education. The nursery is used by families who leave their children in our care during worship and/or adult education and those who bring little ones out for a break during the service. A single care giver will have no more than 5 children in care at a time.

Qualifications:
- Experience caring for children from infant to age three in a group setting
- Completion of child CPR/first aid training (proof required)
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to communicate directly to parents and understand a child's feeding schedule and needs while in our care.
- Ability to hear, see and speak to children, explain and instruct in an age-appropriate and a caring way.
- Ability to sit on the ground and/or kneel and get up without assistance.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to perform diaper changing, feeding, child protection and other child care tasks in line with policies and according to our guidelines (training provided.)
- Ensures physical safety of children in care at all times
- Maintains positive, secure and caring relationship with children (greets enthusiastically, cares for needs including diaper changes, bathroom visits and feeding when needed, interacts positively and plays with children)
- Maintains welcoming and positive relationship with parents (greets appropriately, returns child with affirmative and constructive comments)
- Provides all aspects of hands-on child care, including diaper changing, feeding, playing, running, chasing, redirecting and other child care duties as needed
- Sitting, Standing, Walking, Bending, Reaching, Twisting, Kneeling, Diapering, Feeding, Running, Seeing, Hearing, Speaking, Lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds, Fine Motor Skills
