Children's Ministry
Our Children's Ministry endeavors to share God's love with our toddlers up through elementary-aged children. We offer weekly Faith Formation classes, which include a Bible story, music time and classroom time.
In addition to Sunday education, we also have child-friendly annual events such as Spring Fling, a carnival and lunch on the church grounds; Vacation Bible School; summer art classes; Trunk or Treat and a children's Christmas program. |
Youth Sunday School
Classes are available for children of all ages. On Sunday mornings, all of the children meet together for an opening session in which they learn about the education topic for the day and sing fun songs. Then, they break up into smaller classes by age.
Vacation Bible School
VBS is an annual week of fun, crafts, learning and music for children ages 3 to 11. With engaging themes and colorful characters, VBS draws children into learning about God's love for them. We typically hold this event on weeknights in June. Children from our church and preschool as well as the community are invited to be part of VBS at CLC!
Youth Ministry
Confirmation
Confirmation is a Christian education program for our 5th - 7th grade youth. In Confirmation classes, the youth learn about the elements of Luther's Small Catechism: The Lord's Prayer, The Apostle's Creed and the Ten Commandments. They also study the key principles and stories of the Old and New Testaments. Upon completing the three-year curriculum, the youth have several special projects, including a Confirmation Interview with the Pastor and their parents, a Confirmation essay, and making Confirmation banners to be displayed in the sanctuary on Confirmation Day. Finally, they are confirmed at Sunday worship, often on Pentecost Sunday. Confirmation classes meet on Wednesdays at 6 PM and Sundays at 10 AM.

Youth Missions
Our youth also grow in faith through mission work here at home and throughout the country. Whether they are planting a garden at an inner-city church, leading Vacation Bible School at an Indian Mission or handing out snacks and water to day laborers, the youth are learning how to live out their faith.
Every three years our high school youth group attend the ELCA National Youth Gathering and engage in outreach projects in the city during the convention alongside 30,000 Lutheran youth from across the country. |
Our youth engage in a variety of mission work, but the schedule generally consists of the following:
Discipleship Camp
The youth ventured over MLK weekend to Spider Creek Resort in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The High School youth and Confirmation youth joined together for a unique experience. The High School youth taught the Confirmation aged kids about the different youth programs, the importance of each and how they can keep it thriving for years to come. Fun was had by all in this special joining of the ages trip. With some snow showers, youth participated in fishing, hiking and some frisbee."

Summer Jr. High Mission Tips
Each year, our Jr. High Youth (6th-8th graders) go on a summer trip to enjoy fellowship, Bible study and outreach.
High School Mission Trips
Our High School Youth engage in two major outreach trips per year in addition to many shorter-term but still significant projects.
Take Stock in Youth Missions!
Congregation members have the unique opportunity to purchase shares of "stock" in the youth program. These funds help send the youth on mission trips and aid in other, local outreach efforts. Then in the fall, stockholders attend a special banquet in which the youth share their experiences in mission work in the last year.
