Dear Friends of the Johanniterorden,

I hope this note finds you well, especially during these trying times of pandemic and turbulence. You are in our thoughts and prayers as we wish all of you the very best and hope that you will stay safe, healthy and well.

Each year the Johanniter, in coordination with First United Lutheran Church and the Dallas Goethe Center, cordially invite you to a German Reformation Day Service. Please join us for German readings, Luther’s music and a celebration of our faith in a sermon by Michael Behrens accompanied by inspiring prayers from Katharina Behrens recorded in their beautiful church in Essern, Germany (Link). This year we have adjusted the program due to COVID to ensure that everybody can safely enjoy our service from home. You may watch the recording at your convenience, of course. While the Johanniter would much rather welcome you in-person in a candle-lit church here in Dallas, we feel that this is an interesting and engaging way to overcome the challenges of this time!

Please use this link to access the service on VIMEO: https://vimeo.com/471366646

Allow me to express a special Thank You to Pastor Russell Vardell for offering to arrange this remarkable celebration of our Reformation and to his wonderful wife who edited this resulting video to perfection!! Our deep gratitude also goes to Michael Behrens for his wonderful sermon and to Katharina Behrens for her moving prayers! And to all of you: please enjoy the service and celebrate our Reformation! Where ever you are, it is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy our Lutheran tradition with a slice of pumpkin pie and a hot cup of tea while listening to the wonderful music and enjoying the wonderful views of the beautiful German church.

Please support First United Lutheran Church in Dallas with your donations this year to keep this truly important ministry up and running during these trying times:

Donations / OFFERINGS
We welcome continued support of our mission and ministry, such as providing this service through offerings and gifts. You may mail donations to the church office. Electronic offerings using the “Zelle” app can be made to office@dallaslutheran.org for deposit into our church bank account.

Thank you for your interest and hopefully until next year again!

With warm regards,

Chris Hanebeck
