You are cordially invited to our JHG Texas Lecture Series, on Saturday October 1, 2016, at Christ Lutheran Church in University Park where Dr. Thomas Adam will give a talk on the history of philanthropy over the past millennium, its religious origins rooted in Christianity, Judaism and Islam as well as the forces that have shaped charitable giving from the beginning.
Today, private citizens in the United States give well over $300 billion to charitable causes each year - more funds than the next five countries combined. If you are interested in how we have come to this point, in the ethical, cultural and religious forces that have driven charitable giving for close to a millennium or simply would like to find out how past generations have viewed and practiced charity, this lecture is for you.
